Large five-bedroom, four-bathroom Gulf Front Old Florida beach cottage

Your tropical beach holiday awaits!

Enjoy incredible panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico from both floors of this spacious Old Florida Style beach cottage. Over 2,600 square feet of living space that includes a view to the Gulf of Mexico from every room! This cottage features five bedrooms and sleeps 10 comfortably with four full bathrooms.
Beautiful beach and gorgeous views stretching from Napes to Sanibel Island from this large family-friendly beach cottage, now being managed exclusively by the owner. Three king-size bedroom suites plus another two bedrooms and four full bathrooms means that family and extended family will have enough room and privacy during their stay. Located in the most desired residential mid-island location, surrounded by other single-family homes, you'll feel as though you are on a private beach, with your own coconut palm trees out front.
The master bedroom is on the second floor. It has a private deck, a king-size bed, and a vast view of the Gulf of Mexico, from Naples to Sanibel. A guest bedroom on the second floor has a queen-size bed and a side window so you can wake up to views of the beach and water toward Naples. There is a full bath on the second floor.
The first floor has a galley kitchen, spacious living-dining area, two king-size bedroom suites with private full baths (one with windows looking directly out on the Gulf, the other with a partial view), a beachfront den with trundle day-bed, and an extra full bathroom next to the den. All bedrooms and the den have wall-mounted flat-panel TVs and cable.
The living room has a large flat-panel TV and iPod-ready stereo, and plenty of seating for your guests. The front (beachside) of the living/dining area has a wall of sliding glass doors opening onto a deck across the entire back of the house. Half of the deck is open air with deck chairs and a patio umbrella table. The other half is a covered porch perfect for outdoor dining with the sun setting over the Gulf in the background. There are lounge chairs down on the beach and an outdoor shower to rinse off after swimming, and numerous sand toys are tucked under the deck.
There are also two outdoor hot water private cabin showers on the deck level at both side entrances to the house, plus a new gas BBQ grill on the deck. All in all, there is plenty of space from which to pick your favorite spot for sunbathing, outdoor dining, or family gatherings.
This house is well maintained and has all the expected amenities inside - flat-panel TVs, cable, internet, wifi, washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc., plus seating for 10 inside or 12 or more outside in the covered porch outdoor beachfront dining area. Massive front, side, and back decking provide ideal indoor/outdoor living, and with two outdoor changing rooms with hot showers on either side of the house, there's no waiting going on or off the beach.
Lot's of room for extended families. A sliding door on the north side of the living room can create a young-family suite with a white master suite and den and two bathrooms for a special sense of privacy when it's time for the little ones to go to bed. This area's separate entrance and outdoor changing room with a private hot shower complete the package.
The gentle Gulf waves and talcum-powder soft sand means you will want to spend most of your time on the beach. There are a number of beach toys and furniture provided and stored under the deck. But when it comes to dinner time, in addition to the full kitchen make sure to take advantage of the outdoor gas grill (propane gas and utensils provided) and enjoy large meals at the outdoor dining tables in the beach-front, screened-in porch.
Located a short walk away from the Publix supermarket, Bay Front Bistrot, and the Marina/boat rental; or take the trolley, drive or bike north to Time Square or South to Santini Plaza. Families only. No weddings, bachelor parties, random groups, or hipsters, please!

Notes on the area:
To get your bearings, you are in the middle of Estero Island, otherwise known as the town of Fort Myers Beach. It is one in a series of barrier islands (or Keys) that are along the Florida coast.
The major supermarket for the island is called Publix and is also in the middle of the island, just a few minute walk south along Estero Blvd on the left-hand side. Behind Publix is a marina and also the Bayside Bistrot - a very good restaurant. There is also a farmers market on Wednesdays in the parking lot of the Baptist Church, about a half-mile north of the house along Estero Blvd.
Just walking out on the beach you can see amazing things: Head to the water's edge and you may see dolphins swimming by and amazing sea birds. If you turn right and walk up the beach you will head toward the north end of the island and the "Time Square" area. People love to walk up and down the beach, and at low tide, you can find some beautiful shells. If you walk up north about a mile, you will come to the "Junkanoo". Here there are a number of restaurants, and outdoor bars as well as jet ski, kayak rentals, etc. If you continue north you will come into the commercial end of the north end and Times Square, with lots more restaurants, bars and activities, and the well-known pier. This has a totally different feel - very relaxed with lots of bars, cafes and restaurants, and many shops. This is where the younger people go to party and has a totally different "vibe" from the mid-island and south end. It can be very fun, but the traffic heading north can be difficult due to the construction work going on on Estero Blvd.
If you drive south along the main road, Estero Blvd., about a couple of miles down, you will come to Santini Plaza. This is a commercial center that has numerous restaurants and cafes and shops. Truly Scrumptious is the place to go for ice cream and American breakfast and coffee. The South Beach Grill has the highest quality food in there for dinner, but the other restaurants are all good. On Tuesdays, there is a farmer's market in Santini Plaza which has excellent produce, as well as seafood and barbecued meats.
Just before Santini Plaza is the CVS pharmacy, where you can get not only all your pharmacy needs, but they also carry some basic food like eggs, butter, milk, bread, cereal, coffee, etc. Just behind Santini Plaza is the Fish Tale Marina. Here you can rent powerboats to take out yourself, and also hire a guided fishing boat for a day-long fishing trip if you want.
Just across the bridge to the south is the Lover's Key State Park. This is a beautiful nature preserve with trails. Also just across the bridge is a resort on the left (bayside) that has a nice waterfront restaurant. I think they also rent kayaks in there as well.
If you continue south over the bridges and islands you will shortly come to Big Hickory Island, and on your left is the Big Hickory Grill. Continuing south you will eventually come back onto the mainland in Bonita springs, and further on you can get to Naples. This is where to go if you want to do any bigger shopping. It's also where you would go if you want to golf as there are a number of golf courses in that area.
Many people want to go to Sanibel and Captiva Islands, and this makes a wonderful day-trip. These are the next islands north of Estero Island. They are quite easy to get to, but with the traffic on the north end of Fort Myers Beach, you would want to leave fairly early in the morning to get off the island to the north before the traffic builds up. Just stay on the main road (Estero Blvd) which then becomes San Carlos Road once you cross the bridge onto the mainland. Keep going until you see an overpass highway, and turn left there onto Summerlin Road. Stay on that and you will shortly come to the causeway and bridge over to Sanibel. But if you go, plan on staying the day so you come back late enough in the afternoon or early evening so you don't hit the traffic of people trying to get onto Fort Myers Beach.

NOTES: We book Saturday to Saturday and a seven-night minimum is required. NO pets allowed! The minimum age to rent is 30. Luxury Vacation Rentals also provides beach chairs and a beach umbrella for your stay. We provide high chairs and pack n plays upon request for $35.00 each per week. CSA damage waiver is automatically included in the price of the rental. Any homes that are left dirty or are not followed by our check-out procedures will result in a fee.
