Bowditch Point Park

Situated at the far northwestern tip of Fort Myers Beach lies Bowditch Point Park, a regional park that covers 17.5 acres and offers picturesque opportunities for exploration. Explore this gem tucked away on Estero Island!

Outdoor Fun in Fort Myers Beach

There are plenty of opportunities for getting active and enjoying nature while at Bowditch Point Beach Park. A long, picturesque, palm-lined boardwalk leads down to the beach. Because the park takes up the entire end of the island, you can enjoy access to the shoreline on both the Gulf of Mexico and the back-bay, or Matanzas Pass. The back-bay offers serenity for those looking for a quiet escape. Find a spot in the sand to take in the calm waters and boat-watch as vessels enter and exit the bay. Swimming and lounging along the shore are popular activities on this side of the park. Then, take a break from the beach and enjoy a leisurely stroll or jog on the trails that wind through the nature preserve, keeping an eye out for native birds and gopher tortoises along the way. As much of the trail is under tree cover, the shade provides a nice respite on hot days. Panoramic views of Estero Bay offer scenic spots to take a breather. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park area, which offers tables and grills for public use. Restrooms and a concession stand are also onsite for your convenience.

The beach area along the Gulf side of the park is also nice. Bring along your beach chairs and relax in the sand as you watch the boats come and go around the island’s tip along Matanzas Pass. If you stay until evening, you can catch the sunset’s dazzling display of colors punctuated by the Sanibel Island Bridge. For travelers staying in a vacation rental along Fort Myers Beach, Bowditch Point Park is a great destination point during a walk along the oceanfront!
