If you’re looking for a springtime getaway, the sunny, warm climate of Florida is the perfect escape. Fort Myers Beach has plenty for you and your group or family to make a perfect springtime excursion. You’ll enjoy plenty of beach time and time relaxing around your rental, but you’ll also find that the area offers many fun activities to keep you busy during your Fort Myers Beach spring break stay.
Hot Air Balloon Ride
A fun experience any time of year. Go up, up, and away over the land and sea of Fort Myers Beach in a hot air balloon. Big Red Balloon Sightseeing Hot Air Balloon Adventures takes you for a picturesque sunrise ride of northern Hillsborough and southern Pasco County. You’ll get a bird’s eye view of lakes, Spanish moss-laced cypress trees, and wildlife beginning their day with a stroll or swim. Flights are around an hour long and include transportation to and from the launching and landing fields, post-flight champagne toast, and post-flight complimentary breakfast at a local restaurant. They offer private rides for you and your group or you can share the basket with other riders.
Adventures in Paradise
If you’re ready for an adventure on your spring getaway, Adventures in Paradise Outfitters has plenty to choose from. From sea life encounters where you’ll get up close with pufferfish, seahorses, starfish, and more to fishing for jack, mackerel, and spotted sea trout, there’s a marine adventure for you. Go for a dolphin and marine wildlife spotting tour, go shelling, or take their tour of points of interest of the area.
Spring Training Baseball
Springtime means the beginning of the baseball season with Florida spring training. Especially teams from northern climates where there might still be snow on the ground make their way south to practice in Florida’s warm, sunny environment. Fans interested in catching a game can watch the Boston Red Sox at JetBlue Park and the Minnesota Twins at Hammond Stadium. Game schedules are released as early as mid-November, with ticket sales opening up in December or January.
The major attraction of a Fort Myers Beach spring break vacation: the beach. Grab your cooler, sunscreen, and beach gear and head down to the sand. There are plenty of beach activities, from just laying out and soaking up the sun, to splashing in the surf, building sand castles, or taking an undersea adventure like snorkeling or SCUBA diving. Spend the whole trip, a day, or just a few hours, but the beach needs to be part of your stay.
Soar high above the water on a parasail excursion. You can choose to wear comfortable clothes, or even your swimsuit if you would like a little dip in the Gulf. If you can sit, you can parasail! Lone sailors must be at least 90 pounds to ride safely alone, but there is room for three riders at a time. The custom parasail boats with large take off/landing deck are coast guard approved. You’ll be required to sign a waiver before participation and wear a life jacket during your ride. You can come watch without sailing, but space may be limited by the number of customers going airborne.
Sunset Sailing Cruise
There are several companies in and around the Fort Myers Beach area that provide boat charter experiences. For an extra special memory, try a sunset sail. Take a private sunset sail on a catamaran and experience the gorgeous colors of a Southwest Florida sunset reflected on the waters of the Gulf. Load up your soft-sided cooler with your choice of drinks – non-staining – and snacks (no glass containers) and sit back as the captain sails you around the area. On your two- to three-hour cruise, you might see dolphins, marine birds, other marine wildlife in their natural habitat in the Gulf of Mexico off of Fort Myers Beach. Don’t forget your camera, as you’ll want to capture your experience to treasure for years to come. Keep in mind departure times vary seasonally around sunset time.
