Every year, Fort Myers Beach welcomes cinematic artist and original storytellers to share their craft. The 2021 festival is slated for April and will include films in categories such as Best Local Film, Best Student Film, Best Florida-made Screenplay, Best Animation Short Film, and more. The 2020 winner of Best Local Film was Her Place, directed by Sarasota native Kathryn Parks. You may need a mask.
Farmers Market
This year from February to April, the Beach Baptist Church of Fort Myers Beach will be hosting a farmers market every Wednesday and Friday. The annual event started in 2015 and is a favorite of locals. Enjoy “artsy” vendors and plenty of food made to orders. Enjoy the best of what Fort Myers Beach’s artists, crafters, and farmers have to offer. Church volunteers handle parking, and the sale of coffee throughout the event. Proceeds go to the church’s mission in Guatemala where the beans are grown to help build homes for plantation workers and their families where the coffee beans are grown. Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks
It’s not hard to miss a 4th of July celebration, whether you’re at home or on vacation. The 2021 festivities have not yet been scheduled. When the official date is announced, you can look forward to events in Fort Myers including, of course a parade with red, white, and blue décor, beach themes and when the sun goes down a brilliant light show of fireworks in the sky. Celebrate the day with food and fun, ass many restaurants will have food and drink specials throughout the day along with Happy Hours. Some may even offer live music or other entertainment. Pack away your personal fireworks for use on the mainland. Environmental concerns as well as fire hazards have banned personal fireworks throughout Fort Myers Beach.
Island Hopper Songwriter Festival
The festival is a ten-day music festival in Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel that features country music singer-songwriters from Nashville and all over the country. The 2021 festival runs September 17-26, and visits Fort Myers Beach September 24-26. It’s presented yearly, with this year’s sponsors being iHeart Media, Cat Country 107.1, BMI, and The Beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel. The festival brings over 80 artists and 100 shows to small, fee events in Fort Myers at intimate venues in downtown Fort Myers, Captiva Island, and Fort Myers Beach.
Roar Offshore
The Roar Offshore powerboat race takes place in October. The powerboat race is part of the Offshore Powerboat Association (OPA) annual schedule and is this year’s national championship race. The festivities leading up to the race, including an onshore parade of participating watercraft, an offshore parade of watercraft, a “boat fun run” for the runners in your group, and a chance to see the boats on land before they’re launched into the beautiful waters surrounding Fort Myers Beach.
Fort Myers Beach Birthday
If your birthday lands on a holiday, it’s double the fun – a holiday celebration and a birthday celebration. That’s the atmosphere on December 31 on Fort Myers Beach. The state of Florida enacted legislation that day in 1995 to create the Town of Fort Myers Beach.
